TAMPA Alongside Aaron JudgeAaron Boone stated that the superstar’s throwing ability will probably be hindered for the remainder of the 2025 season due to his ongoing rehabilitation from a right flexor strain.
Before the Yankees started a two-game series in Tampa on Tuesday, the manager told WFAN, “Obviously, we’re trying to get through where he can let it go with ease and be able to protect himself.” At no time this year do I think we’ll see him return to throwing like he usually does, but that’s okay too. However, we must believe that he is capable of standing up for himself and protecting himself.
The Yankees wanted to get his MVP-caliber bat back in the order as soon as possible while he continued to repair his flexor on the side, but Judge, who usually has a formidable arm in right field, has been limited to DH duties since returning from the injured list on August 5. Judge is still anticipated to return to the outfield at some point this season, even though it doesn’t seem like that arm will reach its full potential.
After previously expressing hope that Judge could return to the outfield during this road trip, which has already stopped in St. Louis, Boone simply doesn’t expect that to happen in Tampa.
When asked where Judge was, Boone replied, “I don’t know yet.” I am awaiting a sort of “yeah, thumbs up” response from the trainers.
When asked if Judge might return to right field when the Yankees play the Red Sox later this week, Boone said, “Maybe,” but he also said, “I just don’t know yet.”
Additionally, the captain stated that he anticipated Judge to long toss once more on Tuesday. At 150 feet, he recently did so.
At the Rays’ rented George M. Steinbrenner Field, which is the same size as Yankee Stadium, Boone penciled Giancarlo Stanton back into right field on Tuesday while Judge was still stuck DHing.Over the years, Stanton has struggled with his own DH limitations, but once Judge was activated, he was back to his best.
Despite playing three consecutive games at Yankee Stadium last week, the hot and frequently injured slugger struggled to recover, suffered from lower-body stiffness, and only made one pinch-hit appearance in St. Louis, where Busch Stadium had a large outfield.
Boone went on to say that Stanton is not expected to play on Wednesday.
He stated that we would begin with that and then assess our situation about the Boston series.
