Vice President JD Vance began his tour in Georgia on Thursday, praising President Donald Trump’s large, attractive bill, although one of his remarks caused some people to take issue.

Speaking to a crowd in Peachtree City, Vance sought to highlight the ways in which working-class American families could benefit from the GOP’s comprehensive budget measure. He criticized the former president Joe Biden’s administration during his remarks, saying that some of its policies have made it difficult for rural hospitals.

Then, Vance told the people just outside of Atlanta, “We put a lot of resources, a lot of changes, and a lot of regulations to make it possible for rural hospitals to stay open, despite what the Biden administration did to them for four years.”

Rural hospitals around the nation have insisted that they must now make difficult decisions, such as paying for services or potentially closing their institutions, since Trump signed his hallmark policy package into law last month, according to NBC News and other sites and organizations. Since they treat a larger percentage of low-income patients than other regions, many rural hospitals depend on Medicaid funding. However, the bill could result in approximately 17 million people losing their health care coverage because of changes to Medicaid and the Affordable Care Act, according to KFF, a health policy research group.

Democratic senators have countered that the plan may potentially lead to the closure of over 300 rural hospitals. It contains a ten-year federal funding drop of almost $1 trillion in food and health care assistance, primarily due to changes in the way states can finance their programs through a provider fee and increased work requirements for recipients.

The Rural Health Transformation Program, a $50 billion fund included in the bill, has been presented as a means of compensating providers for losses brought on by some of its provisions.

Vance: In spite of the four years that the Biden administration did to our rural hospitals, we invested a great deal of resources to ensure their continued operation. We will battle for your access to healthcarepic.twitter.com/JEcrOKg5GB, regardless of where you live.

Some social media users reacted negatively to Vance’s remarks.

New York Governor Kathy Hochul (D) criticized his remarks regarding rural hospitals, stating on X that 29 rural hospitals in New York are at risk because to Donald Trump’s Big Ugly Bill.

She responded, “Lying through his teeth.” We’ll hold both you and your supervisor responsible.”

The progressive network MeidasTouch reported that this bill is causing rural hospitals to literally close. He’s telling lies. This goes beyond evil and cruelty.

At least he believes what he’s saying, one person commented. doesn’t assist all of the rural clinics that were forced to close due to financial cuts. Or the large hospitals whose budget was also cut, forcing them to reduce services.

People should be very concerned about how easily he lies. Fortunately, according to another user, he’s as likeable as sitting on a thumbtack.

A screenshot of a Health Affairs article arguing that the law does not safeguard rural hospitals was provided. It also said, “No, you guys are going to close rural hospitals.”

Vance continued by saying that the Trump administration has a very straightforward approach to health care.

We will fight for your access to health care, regardless of where you live—in a large metropolis or a tiny town. According to Vance, we will battle to ensure that you have access to a government that works for you, regardless of how long you have lived here—70 years or two years.

However, you are not entitled to government-funded health care benefits if you are an undocumented alien. He then added, “It’s as easy as that: you have to leave our country.”
