Trump hails ‘monumental’ SCOTUS ruling as pathway for MAGA agenda

President Donald Trump hailed a Supreme Court decision on Friday as a “monumental victory.”

The future of Trump’s executive order terminating automatic birthright citizenship remains uncertain as the split Supreme Court restricted the authority of countrywide injunctions by federal judges.

The high court decided, 6-3, that individual judges did not have the power to issue national injunctions, which stop the federal government from implementing a certain law or policy statewide. However, the judges halted his executive order’s implementation for 30 days and did not rule on whether birthright citizenship is constitutional.

Under the 14th Amendment of the Constitution, which automatically confers citizenship on nearly everyone born in the United States, birthright citizenship has been universally acknowledged by legal authorities on both sides of the political spectrum. Children born to parents who are not authorized to be in the nation have been included in this.

HUGE SUCCESS in the US Supreme Court! Following the decision, Trump stated in a Truth Social post that even the Birthright Citizenship hoax had been severely impacted, although indirectly.

Trump told reporters at the White House that the court’s ruling would enable his administration to legally move forward with a number of his policies, such as freezing unnecessary funding, ending sanctuary city funding, suspending refugee resettlement, ending taxpayer funding for gender-affirming care, and granting birthright citizenship.

“This is a very broad decision, but I would like to express my gratitude to the Supreme Court once more for this decision,” he added. It is, indeed, a giant. They ought to feel a great sense of pride. And today’s Supreme Court is something of which our nation should be extremely proud.

Trump responded, “This really brings back the Constitution,” when asked what he would say to Americans who worry that the decision would consolidate authority in the White House. This is the main focus, and this is actually the complete opposite of that.

In addition, Trump insisted that the court’s decision to invalidate the overuse of countrywide injunctions had “delivered a monumental victory for the Constitution, the separation of powers, and the rule of law”. According to him, they obstruct the executive branch’s regular operations.

There were ideological party lines on the court. “The answer is not for the court to exceed its power when a court concludes that the executive branch has acted unlawfully,” wrote Justice Amy Coney Barrett in the majority opinion. Lower courts shouldn’t issue countrywide injunctions that are more expansive than required, she added.

Justice Sonia Sotomayor stated in a dissenting statement that the court’s ruling is essentially an invitation for the government to circumvent the Constitution.

Judges in subordinate courts will now have to determine how to modify their orders to conform to the top court’s decision.
