Authorities reported Thursday night that three people—two men and a woman—were injured in a gunshot at a picnic in front of a Manhattan apartment complex.
According to police, a 25-year-old woman was shot in the right ankle, a 33-year-old man was shot in the right leg, and a 36-year-old man was shot in the right leg just before 9 p.m. near the junction of E. 122nd St. and Third Ave. in East Harlem.
All three victims were transported by EMS to nearby hospitals in stable condition.
A three-year-old boy also suffered minor bruises from a fall during the pandemonium. The child was transported to Lincoln Hospital by EMS in a stable state.
According to a 44-year-old lady who assisted in planning the cookout, “I heard shots, lots of shots, and I ran.”
We’re all enjoying a small cookout. All of us were innocent onlookers. A woman and two of the guys with us were struck. The woman, who wished to remain anonymous, stated, “I don’t know who they were shooting at.”
According to the woman, the unknown shooter began shooting at the picnic, which was attended by about a dozen people.
It was just another cookout. According to a 28-year-old lady who saw the horrific scene, people were just hanging out. Four or five shots were fired. I witnessed two men being struck. They loaded them into an ambulance after rolling them out.
“It’s crazy,” she continued.
Police stated that an investigation is being conducted and that no one has been taken into custody in relation to the incident as of yet.
