Toya Turner will not be coming back for Chicago P.D. season 13.
Early in season 12, Turner made her television debut as Kiana Cook. Turner’s exit from the police procedural has not been explained by either NBC or Turner. Turner did, however, use Instagram to address her departure.
“It’s the end of my time on Chicago P.D.” she said. This show pushed me, honed my skills, and showed me my true self. I’ve grown as an artist and in my craft as a result of this experience, and I’m leaving with more depth, clarity, and drive for whatever lies ahead.
Turner continued by expressing gratitude to the Chicago P.D. cast and staff for their kindness, humor, and generosity, as well as to the show’s viewers for their warm reception and support of her character.
Turner’s co-star Marina Squerciati (Kim Burgess) from Chicago P.D. stated just a month ago that she would like to collaborate with Turner more in season 13.
On this show, I would like watching a female connection develop. Toya is a new voice on the show, and I adore her. “I felt like my character was a bit of a mentor to Turner’s,” Squerciati told Deadlinein May.

Over the years, Turner is not the first Chicago P.D. star to depart the group. After season 11, she joined the show after Tracy Spiridakos (Hailey Upton Halstead) left. Other previous departures include Jesse Lee Soffer (Jay Healstead) after season 10, Sophia Bush (Erin Lindsay) after season 4, and Jon Seda (Antonio Dawson) after season 6.
Chicago P.D. is scheduled to return this fall after receiving a renewal for season 13 in May. Currently, Squerciati, Amy Morton (Trudy Platt), LaRoyce Hawkins (Kevin Atwater), Jason Beghe (Hank Voight), and Patrick John Flueger (Adam Ruzek) are scheduled to return.
2014 saw the premiere of Chicago P.D., the second series in the One Chicago brand after Chicago Fire.
