On Thursday, NBC said that it is now hiring for a civilian adaptation of the well-liked Peacock series. Only celebrities were featured in the first three seasons of the competition reality show, which is an American spin-off of its British version. The final season aired early this year. A bunch of regular individuals will come together to play what host Alan Cumming referred to as his “terrorist game” in a video announcing the public casting for the next version.
According to the network, Cumming will also host the next edition, and production will begin in 2026. On the show’s website, anybody who would like to participate can apply right now.
A fifth season of the celebrity edition has already been confirmed, and the fourth season is scheduled to premiere next year. Love Island, Big Brother, and Survivor reality stars are among the all-star lineup of season 4, which was revealed in June.
We’re excited to collaborate with NBC to introduce a fresh collection of non-professional players, whose anecdotes and tactics will hopefully increase the gameplay’s unpredictability and spectator addiction. In a statement, Stephen Lambert, CEO of Studio Lambert, the company that produced the Peacock and NBC versions, said.
A group of competitors on the show play a murder mystery game that is akin to Mafia or Clue. In order to get rid of the other competitors, who are regarded as faithfuls, a portion of the cast is covertly designated as traitors. A prize pool of up to $250,000 is at stake. The faithful split the money if they are able to get rid of all the traitors. However, if a traitor survives, they grab everything.
The British version has always featured civilian competitors and used the same venue.
According to Sharon Vuong, executive vice president of unscripted programming at NBCUniversal Entertainment, casting regular people will provide total strangers the chance to meet for the first time, which is a unique opportunity that will be amazing to witness.
In a statement, Vuong said, “We know it will be incredible to watch, and this new version for NBC offers a unique opportunity for the cast and audience to meet each other for the first time.”
According to an NBC statement, the psychological adventure has found success on reality TV, and its third season debuted as the top unscripted series in the United States. In addition, the show won two Emmys for season two and was nominated for five for season three recently.
