James Carter Cathcart, a longtime Pok monvoice actor, passed away. He was seventy-one.
According to Deadline, Cathcart, also known as Jimmy Zoppi, passed away from throat cancer.
His wife, Martha Jacobi, announced on Facebook Thursday morning that he passed away quietly on Tuesday at Calvary Hospital in the Bronx.
She wrote, “Thank you to all of Jimmy’s fans over the years!” He put so much effort into his profession because he wanted to make you happy. You have no idea how much he valued you!
For more than 25 years, Cathcart voiced a number of the show’s characters, including James, Meowth, Professor Oak, and Gary Oak.
Among the hundreds of Pok mon projects Cathcart worked on were over 700 TV shows, 15 motion pictures, and computer games. In Pok Mon: The First Movie, released in 1998, he made his franchise debut.
He withdrew from acting after receiving a throat cancer diagnosis in 2023.
Cathcart, who was born on March 8, 1954, in New Jersey, began his career as a musician by playing keyboards for Dave Brubek, Rupert Holmes, and The Laughing Dog.
