N.J. Park Service opens registration for free Jackson Forest Center tour

The New Jersey State Park Service is offering nature enthusiasts a unique opportunity

on Tuesday to discover the fascinating and often overlooked relationships between insects and plants at an upcoming tour in Jackson.

The free 90-minute guided tour at the Forest Resource Education Center will showcase how trees, shrubs, vines, and herbaceous plants are manipulated into providing food and shelter within their tissues for various insect species.

Participants will learn about these intricate ecological interactions that organizers describe as “science being stranger than fiction.”

Tour guides will point out examples throughout the forest, many of which likely exist in visitors’ own neighborhoods.

The tour will take place at the Forest Resource Education Center, located at 495 Don Connor Blvd. in Jackson Township.

Space is limited to 20 participants, and pre-registration is required on a first-come, first-served basis.
