Mets owner Steve Cohen breaks silence over team’s summer slump

Steve Cohen, the owner of the Mets, has gone to social media to vent his concerns at his team’s losing streak following a disappointing weekend in Pittsburgh.

After the Mets lost to the Pirates 30–4 in three games, Cohen posted on X Monday morning.

He wrote, “Tough stretch, no sugarcoating it.” I didn’t anticipate this. Everyone else is as frustrated as I am. We shall overcome this phase. Over the next weeks, our injured pitching will return. The team’s RISP batting is unlikely to continue at this slow rate. Have trust!

The Mets had a 45-24 start to the season before their downturn. The bats have become silent and the pitching staff has performed poorly over the past few weeks.

Despite dropping 13 of their last 16 games, the Mets are still in the NL East, behind the Philadelphia Phillies by just 1.5 games.

Prior to starting a three-game series against the Milwaukee Brewers at Citi Field, the Mets had Monday off.
