After enduring a stretch of relentless July heat and oppressive humidity, residents across New Jersey and surrounding areas finally got some much-needed relief on Friday, with dew points plummeting from the sticky 70s to the far more comfortable 50s.
The refreshing air brought sunny skies and dry conditions, offering a pleasant break from a week dominated by high heat and strong storms. That comfort will extend into Saturday, though the humidity is expected to return by evening.
On Saturday, dew points will hover in the 60s, making for a tolerable, if slightly humid, day. Morning and early afternoon hours should feel comfortable, especially for those planning outdoor activities.
If you’re heading to the Jersey Shore, expect temperatures in the low to mid-80s with more clouds than sun, but it will still be a lovely beach day. The UV index remains high, so sunscreen is still a must.
A stray shower or sprinkle can’t be ruled out, particularly along the coast and in parts of New Jersey, but most areas will stay dry. Farther north and west, into the Poconos and Catskills, the weather will be even better with more sunshine and similarly warm temps.
By Sunday, the muggy air is back, and it comes with a more widespread chance of showers and storms, especially in the morning and early afternoon.
Storms are expected to be scattered, so it won’t be a total washout. Pop-up storms may interrupt plans briefly, but there will also be sunny breaks later in the day. If you can, schedule outdoor plans for after lunchtime to catch the best of the day.
After Sunday’s storms, a cold front will bring in another shot of cool, dry air by Monday, with dew points falling back into the 50s. This next round of pleasant weather looks to stick around through midweek, with sunny skies and warm, dry conditions.
But don’t get too comfortable—another heat wave is expected by the end of the week, bringing high temperatures and humidity back into the forecast.
