These alarming polling results may not sit well with President Donald Trump.
According to a recent Gallup poll, conducted from June 2–19, a record-low percentage of Americans stated they were pleased to be Americans during Trump’s second term. According to the survey, 58% of American adults stated they were extremely or very pleased to be Americans, which is a considerable decrease from the 67% who said the same in 2024.
Gallup reports that 58% of respondents indicated they feel extremely or very pleased to be an American, which is less than the previous record-low of 63% in 2020.
According to the survey, 17% of respondents said they are very pleased to be an American, and 41% said they are extremely proud. According to the survey, 19 percent said they were “moderately” proud, 11% said they were only “a little” proud, and 9% said they were not proud at all.

Democrats’ pride in being an American fell, according to a Gallup poll, with 36% stating in 2025 that they are extremely or very proud to be an American, down from 62% in 2024. Additionally, only 53% of independent voters had a great lot of pride, according to the poll. According to Gallup, this is a decrease from the 60% of independents who made the same statement the previous year.
92% of Republicans, who have historically had high levels of national pride, said they were “extremely” or “very” happy to be Americans, according to the poll. Compared with last year, when 85% of Republicans made the same statement, this is an increase.
Younger Americans are also less likely to exhibit high levels of American pride, according to Gallup.
According to the survey, 58% of millennials and 41% of Gen Z adults said they were “extremely” or “very” happy to be Americans. On the other hand, 83% of the Silent/Greatest generation, 71% of Gen X, and 75% of baby boomers reported feeling very or very proud.
Additional Gallup data:
The survey was administered to 1,000 adults between June 2 and June 19. At the 95% confidence level, the survey’s margin of error is within 4 percentage points.
