According to George Michael’s ex-longtime companion, Taylor Swift’s sinterpolation of Father Figure would please Swifties just as much as the late Wham! star would.

“The title and a portion of the melody of Father Figure, the fourth track on Swift’s upcoming 12th studio album, The Life of a Showgirl, are taken from Michael’s 1987 song of the same name,” former Kenny Goss told TMZ.

According to the site, Goss, 66, expressed his confidence that his 13-year partner, Michael, would have been thrilled to see someone of Swift’s caliber show interest in his work.

According to the publication, BabygirlSwift would incorporate Michael’s song, which was also featured in the pivotal sequence of 2024, into her own rather than directly duplicating it.

In an interview with The Dallas Morning News at the beginning of 2017, Goss recalled Michael as “the love of my life.” And I believe that I was his true love.

After the couple’s 2011 breakup, Michael passed away on Christmas 2016 from heart failure. His age was 53.

Swift, 35, said earlier this week that her album, The Life of a Showgirl, will be released on October 3. She recorded the new album in the summer of 2024 in between performances on the European leg of her tour, she disclosed on boyfriend Travis Kelce’s New Heights podcast on Wednesday.
