The Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office is urging the public to make safer decisions behind the wheel, regardless of the time of day, after deputies stopped a driver traveling at an alarming speed in the early hours of the morning.
According to a recent Facebook post by the sheriff’s office, a deputy clocked a vehicle going nearly 106 miles per hour just before 2:30 a.m. The driver was reportedly found to have alcohol in their system and was driving without a valid license.
Key details from the incident include:
- The traffic stop occurred at 2:26 a.m.
- The driver was traveling at 106 mph, significantly above the legal speed limit.
- Deputies confirmed the presence of alcohol in the driver’s system.
- The driver did not possess a valid driver’s license.
- Deputies were able to safely stop the vehicle and remove the driver from the road.
“There may not be many cars on the road at 2:26 a.m., but our deputies are,” the sheriff’s office wrote. “Traveling 106mph, with alcohol in your system to boot, is a cocktail for disaster.”
Authorities did not release the driver’s identity or specify whether any charges were filed, but the post served as a strong reminder about the dangers of impaired and reckless driving.
The sheriff’s office concluded by encouraging all drivers to prioritize safety and responsibility to prevent avoidable tragedies on the road.
