A dramatic rescue was caught on camera as
flood waters from intense storms
closed in on a motorist in Union County Monday night.

shows two commuter buses, including an NJ Transit bus, caught in flood waters at the intersection of Mountain Avenue and Park Avenue in Scotch Plains Monday night.
Down the street, emergency responders helped a man out of his car as water rushed by and started climbing up the hood of the car, video shows.
Wearing a life jacket tied to a rope, an emergency responder gently pushes him back into the water as another group of emergency responders pull him to safety, according to the video.
Heavy flooding covered areas of Morris, Union and Somerset County Monday.
Over 3 inches of rain had fallen in Bound Brook in Somerset County Monday and almost 2.5 inches of rain had fallen on the eastern side of Morris County and in areas of Rahway in Union County by 7 p.m., according to rainfall data monitor cooperative with the NJDEP and Rutgers University.
At 5:38 p.m.,
authorities in Watchung said
the town was under heavy flooding, including Route 22, and asked motorists to avoid driving if possible, according to a nixle alert.
By 6:15 p.m., several roads were closed and residents were asked to
shelter in place,
police said.

Slow-moving storms caused
flood warnings to be issued
across the majority of North Jersey counties Monday evening with a risk of
3-5 inches of rain possible
in some areas.
Authorities in Scotch Plains did not immediately return a request for comment.
