TO ANNIE: Recently, a new neighbor of mine moved in. I don’t mind that she places a lot of internet orders. She has, however, occasionally had her packages delivered to my house or to the homes of other neighbors. I’m not sure why she does this.
I didn’t mind at first and would simply walk her packages to her porch across the street. However, I brought her package to her door the last time it occurred and instructed her to cease using my address for deliveries. I promised to return the package to the sender if it occurred again. She became really irate, slammed the door in my face, and cursed at me.
Was this a mistake on my part? Infuriated by Packages
DEAR PEEVED: You weren’t incorrect. This strange arrangement has so far been handled with respect, and you gave her ample notice that it couldn’t go on. More about her than you may infer from her furious answer.
Keep your word. You have every right to notify the delivery service of any packages that are not yours or to return them to the sender. In the future, hopefully, this will encourage her to use her own address. Especially without your consent, this is definitely not your responsibility.
