‘Days of Our Lives’ announces major casting shakeup

There is a new cast member on Days of Our Lives.

In April 2026, Conner Floyd—best known for portraying Phillip Chance Chancellor IV on The Young and the Restless—will take over as Chad DiMera on Days of Our Lives.

From 2009 to 2013, Casey Deidrick, who first performed the part in 2009, portrayed Chad. After that, Billy Flynn played the role for more than ten years before retiring in March. As it happens, Flynn departed Days of Our Lives for The Young and the Restless, and Floyd, who replaced him, is switching from The Young and the Restless to Days of Our Lives once again.

On Thursday, June 19, Flynn made his debut as Cane Ashby on Y&R. In March, he expressed his excitement to Variety about Y&R’s slower tempo in contrast to Days of Our Lives.

There is more time for activities. However, Flynn said that I had received warrior-like training here. This scene had a different tempo, yet it helped shape me into the actor and person I am today.

Flynn told Variety, “I think with this character [Chad], I’ve done everything I can with it,” implying that he made the decision to leave Days of Our Lives. I’m excited to try something different. I’m going to embark on a new adventure and share another tale. That’s all there is to it.

On Monday, June 23, the official Days of Our Lives Instagram account commemorated Floyd’s casting announcement.

Remember the date: A picture of Floyd pointing to his dressing room sign was captioned by the account in April 2026.

Flynn’s final Days of Our Lives appearance isn’t anticipated until early 2026, despite Floyd formally taking over as Chad DiMera. Fans of soap operas can currently see Flynn on Days of Our Lives and Y&R.
