Construction starts on huge $400M Jersey City development with 670 apartments

A $400 million residential construction in Jersey City’s burgeoning SoHo West district, close to the Hoboken border, has been initiated by three prominent real estate businesses.

670 units will be spread over two buildings, each rising 14 and 21 stories, as part of the 1.75-acre complex.

In addition to more than 60,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor amenity spaces, the project features 13,000 square feet of street-level retail space.

Last week, at a ceremony that was attended by Jersey City Mayor Steven Fulop and other local authorities, the Albanese Organization, BXP, and CrossHarbor Capital Partners began work on 290 Coles St.

According to Chris Albanese, president of the Albanese Organization, “the groundbreaking of 290 Coles reflects our continued belief in Jersey City as a great place to live and work, and our commitment to helping shape its future in thoughtful and lasting ways.” In addition to providing additional homes, this project is a significant step toward solidifying SoHo West as a thriving, cohesive neighborhood.

The development, which was designed by MHS Architecture, will have an outdoor deck and rooftop sky lounge atop the 21-story tower with views of the Manhattan skyline. The Meshberg Group, situated in Brooklyn, creates interior designs that they characterize as having a loft-inspired vibe.

Co-working spaces, a fitness facility, an outdoor pool, a golf simulator, a chef’s kitchen, a children’s play area, and a pet spa will all be available to residents. The property has easy access to several transit choices at the nearby Hoboken Terminal and is next to a brand-new public park.

According to Hilary Spann, EVP, New York Region at BXP, Jersey City is a desirable market for new multifamily complexes because to its ongoing population expansion. With its extensive amenities package, well-considered architecture, and prime location near the Hoboken Terminal, 290 Coles will provide residents with an exceptional quality of life.

According to Tom Stevens, a portfolio manager and partner at CrossHarbor, the property is in a desirable area that we think will remain in demand as the neighborhood is progressively transformed by high-quality buildings.

K L Masters Construction Company is in charge of construction management. Dresdner Robin, DeSimone Consulting Engineering, and ICOR Consulting Engineers are other members of the design team. Spring 2028 is when completion is anticipated.
