According to officials on Monday, the shooter who opened fire on the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention headquarters in Atlanta during the fatal shooting last Friday fired 180 rounds.

Following the shootout in which DeKalb County police officer David Rose was killed, Patrick White, 30, was discovered dead in a pharmacy. There were no injuries at the CDC. Whether White shot himself or was struck by responding officers’ gunfire has not been disclosed by authorities.

According to CDC staff, replacing 150 damaged windows and cleaning up the damage could take weeks or perhaps months because some of the rounds pierced blast-resistant windows. Four agency buildings were damaged in all.

Robert F. Kennedy Jr., the health secretary and vaccine skeptic, visited the location on Monday but did not speak to the media. He had a private meeting with Rose’s widow as well.

This week, CDC staff were encouraged to work from home.

Law enforcement officers claim that White blamed the COVID vaccine for his declining mental health.

The U.S. surgeon general during President Trump’s first term, Dr. Jerome Adams, stated on Sunday that medical leaders should be aware of the consequences of their statements.

“We must realize that people are paying attention,” Adams said on CBS’s Face the Nation. Making repeatedly refuted claims regarding the safety and effectiveness of vaccines can have unforeseen repercussions.
