TO ERIC: I reside around ten minutes away from my dad. I enjoy doing activities with him. His car’s interior smells terrible, which is the only issue. After years of neglect, not because of anything specific. I avoid going on excursions with him because of it. Shall I volunteer to undertake a thorough cleaning? How do I go about this? Hanging a fragrance tree on his rearview mirror won’t cut it. Any ideas?
Automobile Odor Meter
Greetings, Car Your father’s sense of smell may have changed or become less sensitive, or he may have become desensitized to the smell. Therefore, gently pointing out that there is an odor and providing a straightforward fix could be beneficial. If it’s interfering with your want to spend time with your father, it’s better to have a brief, semi-awkward chat than to lose out on valuable time together.
Be impartial and accusation-free. I’ve detected a bad smell coming from the car. Have you observed it? and then, if you don’t mind, I’d want to assist you in fixing it. Check to see if there are any additional areas where his sense of smell has changed while you’re speaking. If so, just to be safe, he should discuss that with his primary care physician.
