As she attempted to pull into a parking space in Brooklyn on Saturday, a 68-year-old lady was repeatedly attacked and knocked to the ground, according to police.
On August 13, at approximately 7:40 p.m., a man and a woman pulled up behind the victim in a green sedan as she was ready to park outside the Food Bazaar Supermarket on Manhattan Ave. close to Moore St. in East Williamsburg.
She told police that the man got out of his car, came up to her driver-side window, and started arguing with her as she attempted to wave the couple on, signaling that she was ready to pull into the place.
According to police, the victim exited her vehicle as the confrontation went on. The second woman then rushed up and started pounding her in the face, causing her to fall to the parking lot’s tarmac.
After jumping back into their vehicle, the pair drove off. According to police, they were last seen traveling east on Varet Street.
The woman was taken to Woodhull Hospital by EMS, where she received treatment for minor wounds.
Police retrieved the couple’s CCTV footage and released the pictures in the hopes that someone would recognize them.
When last seen, the female suspect was dressed in a black jacket, white sneakers, gray slacks, and a gray shirt. The man she was with had on a black head wrap, black leggings, and a white tank top.
The event coincides with an 8% decrease in criminal assaults, from 195 to 178, in the Williamsburg neighborhood, which is within the jurisdiction of the 90th Precinct, according to the NYPD.
Citywide, the number of felony assaults has decreased, although only by 1%, from 18,814 at this time last year to 18,603.
We want anyone with knowledge about this couple’s whereabouts to call NYPD Crime Stoppers at (800) 577-TIPS. Every call will be kept private.
