South Amboy’s once-dormant shoreline has been transformed by a $500 million reconstruction project, which has launched a new rental complex with 205 units and connection to New York City via train and ferry.
The launch of the BNE Real Estate Group-developed residential complex, The Pearl at Station Bay, during the summer marked the most recent milestone in the city’s waterfront restoration.
At 2000 Schindler Drive, there are 26,000 square feet of amenities on the site.
The Pearl, which debuted in June, joins the nearby Station Bay, which debuted with 291 residential units in early 2022.
Now available are apartments with one, two, or three bedrooms, with monthly prices beginning at $2,260.
A state-of-the-art fitness center, yoga/movement studio, golf simulator lounge, game lounge, co-working lounge with private offices, a smart cafe with coffee and snack bar, a private event suite with a bar, lounge, and dining room are all available to residents of The Pearl.
The Pearl’s outside amenities include a resort-style pool, ping pong, fire pits, grills with private dining areas, and verdant lawn and garden areas.
Secure package lockers, round-the-clock on-site maintenance, and covered garage parking are also offered.
For inhabitants with four legs, a dog run and pet spa complete the experience.
BNE Real Estate Group created both communities on property that was formerly largely zoned for light industrial use and was made up of undeveloped or abandoned lots.
The new ferry terminal in South Amboy opened in February and offers NY Waterway service to Pier 11/Wall Street, Brookfield Place, and W. 39th Street in Manhattan.
The North Jersey Coast Line’s NJ Transit rail service to New York is enhanced by the about 50-minute ferry voyage.
In order to increase access to parks and public facilities like the South Amboy Public Library and South Amboy Middle High School, as well as to improve connectivity between the ferry port and downtown, city officials led the waterfront makeover.
According to organizers, the project also intends to encourage business expansion along Broadway, the city’s major thoroughfare.
In a statement, South Amboy Mayor Fred Henry stated, “If you remember what was down here a few years ago and compare it to what is here now, it’s an incredible improvement.”
According to officials, the area’s close proximity to Manhattan and the Jersey Shore helps residents and businesses along Broadway, where neighborhood eateries, stores, and cafes give the walkable downtown flavor.
Along with seasonal concerts and community activities, residents also enjoy access to the 114-acre Raritan Bay Waterfront Park, which features beaches, pathways, athletic fields, gazebos, a landmark pavilion, and 114 acres of open space.
