A kid from Minnesota says that after a waiter followed her into the women’s restroom at a restaurant, she had to show that she was a woman.

18-year-old Gerika Mudra has filed a lawsuit alleging discrimination against Buffalo Wild Wings, claiming that during her visit in April, she was asked to verify her gender.

According to Mudra, a waiter followed her into the restroom, rapped on the stall door, and yelled at her while she was eating at Buffalo Wild Wings in Owatonna, Minnesota.

In an interview with her lawyers, Mudra stated, “This is a women’s restroom; the man must leave.” I just said, “I’m a girl,” and she responded, “You should leave right away.” I told her that I’m a girl, and she simply left without saying sorry or anything.

Mudra, a biracial lesbian, claimed that she felt compelled to affirm her gender identity, so she unzipped her hooded sweatshirt and exposed her breasts.

Then, without replying, the server left the bathroom.

Mudra remarked, “She made me feel very uncomfortable.” I simply dislike using public restrooms after that. I simply suppress it. I want to have privacy while I use the restroom.

The Minnesota Department of Human Rights received the discrimination complaint from a nonprofit organization named Gender Justice. The business contended that Mudra’s circumstances violated the state’s Human Rights Act, which shields individuals from discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation and gender identity.

According to NBC, Sara Jane Baldwin, senior staff attorney at Gender Justice, stated at a recent news conference that companies have a legal duty to train employees and make sure that anti-discrimination rules are implemented in practice, in addition to having them on paper. If it doesn’t occur, the company is responsible for the damage.
