Actress Christina Applegate disclosed on Tuesday that she is receiving intravenous antibiotics for a double kidney infection that is excruciatingly painful.
On Tuesday’s episode of the podcast MeSsy, which she co-hosts with fellow actress and MS sufferer Jamie-Lynn Sigler, the Married With Children alumna revealed that she first became ill while traveling to Europe to see family. She was broadcasting from the hospital. She claimed that she made the decision to head straight from the airport to the hospital while flying home.
Given how often she visits the hospital, Applegate, who was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in 2021, jokingly refers to it as her pied-terre. She stated on MeSsy that often, doctors prescribe her medication and send her home. Applegate insisted on being admitted this time.
According to Applegate, she told hospital staff, “I’m staying here because I want answers.” I want you to complete every test you can think of, including ones you haven’t even considered.
Doctors first suspected Applegate of having an aurinary tract infection, and during a prior hospital stay, they even tested her wiping technique, making sure she went from front to back.
Like, back-wiping, what am I? According to Applegate’s podcast. I mean, really, I’m 53.
The actor from Dead to Me claimed that when she woke up with terrible pain spreading from her right side and believed her appendix was exploding, she was severely validated.
Applegate remarked, “So much pain.” At two in the morning, they ordered me an emergency CT scan as I was screaming.
This indicated that she had an infection in her right kidney, which subsequently migrated to her left. Instead of attempting to send her home, Applegate stated, “The hospital won’t let me leave yet because things are messy.” I am currently on intravenous antibiotics due to this kidney infection. And we’re at that point.
Sigler pointed out that things may have turned out far worse if Applegate hadn’t spoken up for herself.
Despite acknowledging that she was choking back tears at the moment, Applegate reassured her audience that everything would be alright.
