Arizona Weather Shift Storms Up North, Heat Returns to Valley

Warmer and drier weather has returned to the Valley, while storm activity continues in Arizona’s High Country and surrounding areas.

On Thursday, the Valley reached a high of 101°F under mostly sunny and humid skies. Evening temperatures are expected to drop to around 85°F, with only a slight chance of storms locally. Most thunderstorm activity will likely occur in northwest and southeastern Arizona.

The National Weather Service has issued a Flash Flood Warning for areas near the White Sage Fire, in effect until 7:45 p.m. Residents in flood-prone regions are advised to stay alert and avoid low-lying areas.

Storm chances remain elevated through the weekend for higher elevation areas, while the Valley continues on a drying trend with rising temperatures. After a stretch of cooler-than-average days, conditions are returning to seasonal norms.

Looking ahead, clear skies and sunshine are expected to persist into the weekend, with above-average heat potentially returning by late next week.

Residents are encouraged to monitor local forecasts and follow safety alerts, especially in regions vulnerable to flooding.
