No one will apparently be flying like an eagle this year now that the
Steve Miller Band
has nixed all of their upcoming tour dates, citing extreme weather as the root cause.
The
Grammy Award-winning
classic rock band, known for hit songs such as “
Fly Like an Eagle
” and “The Joker,” took to social media to share the announcement that they are blaming the decision on “the weather” and told fans to “always trust your instincts.”
“The combination of extreme heat, unpredictable flooding, tornadoes, hurricanes and massive forest fires makes these risks for you our audience, the band and the crew unacceptable,” the post read in part.
“You can blame it on the weather…The tour is cancelled,” the announcement continued. “Don’t know where, don’t know when…We hope to see you all again.”
Among the dates impacted is the Aug. 21 headlining gig at the
New York State Fair
at Suburban Park in Syracuse, N.Y.
Officials for the event, which boasts George Clinton & Parliament Funkadelic, Shaggy,
Busta Rhymes
, Cheap Trick and
Dionne Warwick
among its 2025 lineup, have not announced a replacement for the concert slot.
The
Rock & Roll Hall of Famers
had 31 dates scheduled this year, mostly at outdoor venues, starting with an Aug. 15 show in Bethel Woods, N.Y., and concluding in Anaheim, Calif., on Nov. 8.
Other tri-state area shows affected by the cancellation are
Hard Rock Atlantic City
on Aug. 22, Jones Beach on Aug. 24,
PNC Bank Arts Center
on Aug. 26, Seneca Allegany Resort on Aug. 30, and Premier Theater on Aug. 31.
