Mayor Adams tapping new campaign manager with history of inflammatory rhetoric: sources

According to the Daily News, Mayor Adams is anticipated to appoint Eugene Noh, a seasoned political consultant from New York with a track record of using divisive language, as his reelection campaign manager.

According to several sources, Noh, who is also the spouse of anti-Adams Queens Councilwoman Julie Won and progressive, is anticipated to be publicly announced for the new role as early as this week.

On Tuesday, Noh declined to comment. Messages were not immediately returned by an Adams campaign representative.

The new position comes as Adams, who is running as an independent after withdrawing from the Democratic primary this spring due to the repercussions from his federal corruption indictment, faces overwhelming odds in the general mayoral race in November. Assemblyman Zohran Mamdani, a socialist who has the support of Noh’s wife and other progressives, is the Democratic contender for mayor in the November election.

In addition to working for his wife’s political operations, Noh has contributed to other high-profile races in New York, such as the unsuccessful 2022 reelection attempt of former Staten Island Congressman Max Rose.

Noh was on camera directing staffers to take drastic measures to increase the congressman’s vote when he was managing Rose’s campaign.

Among other things, Noh encouraged the employees to use a lot of Adderall, smoke meth, or use cocaine. The News first reported on this in 2023, and Noh later apologized. He was also heard on the audio urging employees to sound fire alarms in apartment complexes that house polling places so that people would come downstairs to cast their ballots.

Furthermore, The News revealed in 2023 that Noh had been banned from Twitter more than ten years prior for violating the platform’s guidelines, including using the N-word.

Adams is anticipated to run against Mamdani, Republican contender Curtis Sliwa, independent Jim Walden, and maybe Andrew Cuomo in the November election.
