Michael Madsen’s doctor confirms actor’s cause of death

Less than a week after the Reservoir Dogs star was discovered unconscious in his Malibu home last Thursday, Michael Madsen’s cause of death was officially revealed.

Madsen’s physician told NBCLA that alcoholism and heart disease were two causes that contributed to the 67-year-old actor’s death from heart failure. His death has been attributed to natural causes, and authorities do not suspect foul play.

An autopsy will not be conducted because the physician who treated the former Donnie Brasco patient has already signed the death certificate.

Last Monday, Ron Smith, his manager, informed the publication that Madsen passed away due to cardiac arrest.

The regular Quentin Tarantino collaborator, who was also a published poet, reportedly became sober in recent months, according to insiders who spoke to TMZ this week. According to reports, loved ones hoped Madsen, who had a history of substance problems, was still involved in his program when he passed away.
