Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs’ sentencing on prostitution offenses set for Oct. 3

A Manhattan judge decided Tuesday that Sean Diddy Combs, who was recently found guilty of prostitution violations, will be sentenced on October 3.

Combs’ legal team and the Manhattan U.S. attorney’s office jointly requested the date he first set after the rap music mogul was found guilty last week of two counts of transportation to participate in prostitution, and Federal Judge Arun Subramanian approved their request.

After Combs’ attorneys requested an expedited sentencing last week but came to an arrangement before the hearing, the two parties were scheduled to fight virtually in Subramanian’s courtroom on Tuesday.

For his involvement in shipping people across the United States or abroad to perform for him at obscene sex parties he termed freakoffs, Combs, 55, was sentenced to 51 to 63 months in prison by the federal government last week. According to his lawyers, it ought to be closer to 21 or 27 months.

After examining the submissions from both parties, a probation department presentence report, and other documents, Subramanian will determine the length of time the Bad Boy Records producer will serve during his sentencing.

Victims of the case may also speak to the judge; some of them pleaded with him to put Combs in jail after he was found not guilty of the most serious charges in the indictment.

Combs was found not guilty on two counts of sex trafficking and RICO conspiracy by the jury, which consisted of eight men and four women, on Wednesday.

Megalomaniacal Combs was accused of using force, deception, and other manipulative tactics to coerce his ex-girlfriend Cassie Ventura and a woman who testified anonymously as Jane into lengthy, humiliating sex acts with male escorts.

In order to satisfy his obsessive sexual cravings, Combs allegedly used high-ranking employees to carry out a number of crimes, including threatening anyone who stood in his way, obtaining drugs for the obscene hotel parties, and intimidating women into silence and submission.

Jurors saw pictures of Ventura’s injuries from the beatings she suffered during their relationship, as well as video of Combs savagely attacking her. Jane and his former assistant, who testified under the alias Mia, both gave them graphic accounts of his violent outbursts.

The rap mogul’s attorneys informed the jury of Combs’ history of domestic abuse, but they insisted that this did not prove that he was responsible for sex trafficking or managing his company like a Mafia boss.

Combs might have received a life sentence if he had been found guilty on one or both of the primary charges.

Since his arrest in September, the Harlem-born rap superstar has been housed at Brooklyn’s Metropolitan Detention Center.

Following the judgment, Subramanian rejected Combs’ lawyers’ request to have him released on a $1 million bond, noting Jane’s trial testimony that he had beaten her severely the previous summer, months after she had discovered he was the subject of a federal investigation.
