After Sunday’s victory against the Mets, teammates Max Fried and Jazz Chisholm Jr. learned they would be joining the Yankees captain, with Aaron Judge already scheduled to start the All-Star Game in right field for the American League.
Chisholm will be attending the exhibition for the second time after being chosen by the league office, while Fried was elected to his third Midsummer Classic by his teammates. This year’s All-Star Game will be held at Atlanta’s Truist Park, so for Fried, the July 15 match will be a homecoming.
Fried signed an eight-year, $218 million contract with the Yankees over the winter after spending the first eight years of his career with the Braves. He said that because he had to worry about beginning at Citi Field on Sunday, he had not given the prospect of pitching in Atlanta any thought.
