New Jersey singer Connie Francis, who peaked at number one in the 1960s, was recently making news again for an old song.
Francis’ 1962 song “Pretty Little Baby” became popular on TikTok and seems to be all over social media this year.
Francis, 87, is currently in the hospital.
The singer confirmed a story from radio and Palisades Amusement Park veteran Cousin Brucie by posting an update on her health on Facebook.
Francis stated, “I am back in the hospital where I have been undergoing tests and checks to determine the cause(s) of the extreme pain I have been experiencing,” as many of you may have seen from Cousin Brucie’s Facebook page. After having to cancel a previous slot a few weeks ago due to hip treatment, I had intended to participate in Brucie’s presentation on Independence Day. Unfortunately, I had to inform him that I would have to withdraw once more.
I appreciate all of your “get well soon” notes, she said. I’ll do my best to keep you informed.
Francis then claimed that she had been transferred to a different hospital room.
She said, “I am happy to inform you that after a number of tests and examinations in Intensive Care, I have now been transferred to a private room.”
People stated in May that Francis was in a wheelchair due to a hip injury.
Born Concetta Rosa Maria Franconero, the singer and actor grew up in Belleville and Newark. She had a highly successful pop star career in the late 1950s and early 1960s, and she also starred in musical comedy movies.

Her song “Everybody’s Somebody’s Foolhit” peaked at number one on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1960, making her the first female artist to do so since its debut in 1958.
Don’t Break the Heart That Loves You (1962) and My Heart Has A Mind of Its Own (1960) are two of her other number-one hits.
Francis featured in films such as Looking for Love (1964) and When the Boys Meet the Girls (1965).
She sung the title tune for Where the Boys Are (1960) and Follow the Boys (1963).
After retiring in 2018, she was taken aback by Pretty Little Baby’s viral success, considering it wasn’t particularly noteworthy in her discography.
In a May Facebook post, Francis expressed gratitude to TikTok and its users for the amazing and surprisingly positive response to his 1961 track, Pretty Little Baby.
She had received a call from her record label president informing her of the newfound virality.
My first reaction was to ask, “What’s that?” as I was obviously out of touch with the vocabulary used in modern music analytics.”Francis said.”
Lipstick on Your Collar (1959), Mama (1960), and Stupid Cupid (1958) are some of her other well-known songs.
Currently, Gracie Lawrence plays Francis in the Tony-nominated Broadway musical Just in Time, which centers on Jonathan Groff’s character, musician Bobby Darin. For their roles, Lawrence and Groff were nominated for Tony Awards.
In the 1950s, while their careers were just getting started, Francis and Darin fell in love.
In 1960, he wed Bayonne actor Sandra Dee, with whom he later divorced in 1967.
