Carlos Mendoza had an unexpected run in the NLCS during his debut season with the Mets. Following their June dip, supporters are now doubting the coaching staff’s future.
The Mets coaches are apparently not under fire despite the recent slump, which includes a sweep in Pittsburgh over the weekend. SNY’s Andy Martino reports that teams “continue to believe in the major league coaching staff.”
The Pirates outscored the Mets, who are trying to contend this season, 30–4 in three games this past weekend. An ugly month of baseball has been caused in part by a struggling offense and deteriorating starting and reliever pitching.
Prior to starting a three-game series against the Milwaukee Brewers at Citi Field, the Mets had Monday off. As the deadline at the end of next month draws near, they will try to have a better July and possibly deal with the difficulties through the trade market.
