According to representatives of the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office, a 77-year-old Lyndhurst man was charged for his involvement in a hit-and-run that occurred in Hudson County in early June and left a 42-year-old critically injured.
Third-degree charges of leaving the scene of a collision inflicting significant bodily injury and endangering an injured victim were brought against the Bergen County man. A fourth-degree count of impeding the administration of the law was also brought against him.
According to officials, police in North Bergen responded to a report of a pedestrian being struck in the vicinity of 2600 Tonnelle Ave. just before five in the morning on June 4.
According to investigators, a 42-year-old Union City man was sent to Jersey City Medical Center for treatment after being discovered at the site with severe injuries.
According to officials, the man was still in critical condition and in the hospital on June 5. Officials did not give a health status update for the man.
According to officials, the car that was purportedly involved in the incident was not present at the site but was found during an initial investigation.
According to officials, the Lyndhurst man was taken into custody on June 26 and freed until his initial court appearance on July 17.
