According to his post on X, 36-year-old former NFL All-Pro wide receiver Antonio Brown has left the nation after being served with an arrest warrant for attempted murder.
Brown wrote on Saturday, “I’m out of the country.” There will be no more child support; advise your mother to find employment.
According to an arrest warrant acquired by The Associated Press, Brown is charged with second-degree attempted murder in connection with a shooting that occurred during a fight outside of a Miami amateur boxing event.
Brown is charged with taking a firearm from a security guard and shooting two shots at a man he had previously engaged in a fistfight with. Investigators were informed by the victim that one of the bullets had grazed his neck. The maximum penalty for the crime is 15 years in jail and a fine of up to $10,000.
The former wide receiver spent the majority of his 12-year career with the Pittsburgh Steelers, but he last played in the NFL in 2021 with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He also played for the New England Patriots and Oakland Raiders.
Throughout and after his playing career, Brown has been involved in a number of concerning off-field situations, such as many arrests, court battles, and arguments with former teammates, partners, and trainers. He was charged with civil contempt for unpaid bills and arrested for allegedly not paying child support.
Brown has also been charged with multiple counts of domestic abuse and battery of a moving truck driver.
From 2014 to 2017, Brown was selected to the All-Pro squad four times in a row after receiving his first All-Pro selection in 2014.
However, because to off-field issues, he was cut by three of the five clubs he played for throughout his tumultuous NFL career—the Raiders, Patriots, and Bucs.
