See Jeremy Allen White’s Bruce Springsteen in ‘Deliver Me from Nowhere’ trailer, list of N.J. film locations

20th Century Studios has made the decision to leave us without a trailer for the impending Bruce Springsteen film.

On Wednesday, the first trailer for Deliver Me from Nowhere, which starred Jeremy Allen White as a young Springsteen, was made public.

The film, which was shot in New Jersey, the home state of The Boss, throughout the fall and winter of last year (see the complete list of Jersey locations below), is scheduled to hit theaters on October 24, right before awards season.

Prognosticators and viewers of the awards show are eager to see if White, 34, who won two Oscars for The Bear, will deliver a performance worthy of an Oscar.

In the film, which was written and produced by Scott Cooper, the actor played Springsteen in the early 1980s while wearing tight trousers and a leather jacket (Crazy Heart, The Pale Blue Eye, Antlers, Black Mass). Singing like Springsteen, a lifelong musical hero to a worldwide audience, was another onerous responsibility for White.

Naturally, there was also the intimidating possibility that Springsteen would be hearing.

Deliver Me from Nowhere is based on Warren Zanes’s 2023 book of the same name, written by Montclair, which details the creation of Springsteen’s critically acclaimed 1982 album, Nebraska.

The song State Trooper, in particular, is the source of the term.

Listen to my final prayer, Springsteensings, if you’re out there. Deliver me out of the blue, silver-o.

However, the title track from Nebraska is the one that White is singing in the trailer (see below) when he picks up his guitar and harmonica.

Despite the album’s Midwest-inspired title, Springsteen recorded his sixth album in the bedroom of the house he was renting in Colts Neck. A short trailer for the movie, which came out on Tuesday, showed a cassette tape with the title Colts Neck-DEMO playing a dubbed rendition of “Born in the U.S.A.”

The song, which sounds very different from the popular song that was released in 1984, was recorded by Springsteen at the same sessions that resulted in Nebraska. The songs on Nebraska were not recorded with the E Street Band, in contrast to the Born in the U.S.A. songs that were included on the album of the same name. The CD featured Springsteen’s voice and lyrics instead of a huge band sound, even though they were supposed to be solo recordings that he would re-record with the entire band.

Winner of an EmmyGuitar tech Mike Batlan, who sets up the recording equipment for Springsteen to record Nebraska in the Colts Neck residence, is played by Paul Walter Hauser (Black Bird).

It doesn’t have to be flawless. During a microphone check in the trailer, White’s Springsteen tells Hauser’s Batlan. I want to feel as though I’m alone in the room.

In April, the film industry first saw the trailer at CinemaCon in Las Vegas.

At the ceremony, White introduced the trailer and remarked, “I feel really lucky.” On this movie, we all received Bruce’s blessing. The movie chronicles a crucial period in Bruce’s life when he is attempting to make peace with the demands of success and the demons of his past, which all comes together in his 1982 album Nebraska.

In addition to showing Springsteen’s life and career in the early 1980s, the film includes black-and-white flashbacks to Springsteen’s early years in the 1950s.

Springsteen was frequently on the set of Deliver Me from Nowhere, which included sequences shot in Asbury Park, his lifelong haunt. White can be seen gazing out into the Atlantic Ocean and his hometown in the Freehold borough. Other sequences from Bayonne, Rahway, and Rockaway also featured The Boss on set.

He signed scripts for the cast and crew and autographs for spectators who came to see the production. In the flashback scenes, Springsteen also freely gave hugs to White and other performers, including Stephen Graham, who plays Springsteen’s father, Douglas Dutch Springsteen.

The 75-year-old Springsteen has been outspoken against White’s depiction of him.

I’ve had a lot of fun because he has a terrific interpretation of myself that I believe the people would really understand. told Jim Rotolo of E Street Radio on SiriusXM. Being on the set whenever I can has been a lot of fun.

Regarding White, Springsteen remarked, “He sings well.” He has a great voice. It’s an amazing cast of people, you know, like Odesessa Young and Jeremy Strong. The movie is really thrilling since it was expertly cast.

Strong, who took home an Emmy for Succession, portrays Jon Landau, Springsteen’s manager.

Strong, 46, stated at CinemaCon that although Jon had a strong interest in Bruce as an artist, he also had a strong interest in his friend’s happiness, wellbeing, and mental health issues. I consider Jon to be Bruce Clark’s Lewis, and I believe their journey together is just stunning and unheard of in music history.

The trailer’s opening scene, shot in Bayonne, has Springsteen speaking with a car dealer.

He sits in a 1982 Chevrolet Camaro Z28 and informs the salesman that he has never acquired a new automobile before.

The man tells Springsteen, “It’s awfully fitting for a handsome devil rock star.” I am aware of your identity.

“Well,” says Springsteen, “that makes one of us.”

In the trailer, Wyckoff’s David Krumholtz (Oppenheimer), who portrays record boss Al Teller, appears with Strong’s Landau.

The trailer is narrated in part by Landau’s comments to Teller in the scenario.

Landau adds, “This is what I want you to understand.” Neither of us is involved in this. The charts are not the point of this. The subject here is Bruce Springsteen. And these are the songs that he wants to work on right now.

I wanna tell you a little story, he continues as scenes turn to black and white. When Bruce was little, he had a hole in the floor of his bedroom. The floor, it s supposed to be solid. You re supposed to be able to stand on it. Bruce, he didn t have that. Bruce is a repairman. And what he s doing with this album is he s repairing that hole in his floor. He s repairing that hole in himself. And once he s done that, he s gonna repair the entire world.

In another scene, White s Springsteen says he s trying to find some real in all the noise.

You always do, Strong s Landau tells him.

At the end of the trailer, the movie s Springsteen can be seen belting outBorn to Runwith theE Street Band.

By the looks of it, the scene was filmed at the Meadowlands Arena in East Rutherford, which was the very place Springsteen and the band played 10 nights for the Born in the U.S.A. tour in 1984, when the venue was known as the Brendan Byrne Arena.
