N.J. man sentenced to 8 years in state prison for drug distribution, firearms

An Atlantic County Man who was arrested last year for selling heroin/fentanyl and crack cocaine was sentenced to eight years in state prison on multiple convictions for drug distribution and firearms possession, authorities said on Friday.

Kalik Lane, 37, of Egg Harbor Township, was sentenced on June 9 for third-degree possession with the intent to distribute drugs, second-degree possession with the intent to distribute drugs, and second-degree possession of a firearm while committing a drug offense.

Lane must serve three and a half years before becoming eligible for parole. The sentencing also resulted in the forfeiture of weapons, narcotics, and $17,000 in cash seized during the investigation, according to a statement from the

Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office.

The investigation from April to June 2023 found that Lane was producing and distributing quantities of heroin and crack cocaine from two residences, the prosecutor’s office said.

On June 15, 2023, authorities executed search warrants on the residences in Egg Harbor Township and Atlantic City, along with a vehicle.

Police said they seized a digital scale and a quantity of suspected heroin/fentanyl from the car.

Lane was arrested at a home in Egg Harbor Township. Investigators said they entered a bedroom and found a blender with a white powdery residue, packaging materials with rubber stamp with the “Porsche” logo, an inkpad and more than $17,000 in cash in a safe.

At a separate residence in Atlantic City, police said they recovered a Glock 27 handgun, suspected fentanyl, and suspected crack cocaine.

They also found three semi-automatic handguns, two large-capacity ammunition magazines, and multiple rounds of ball and hollow point ammunition, according to the prosecutor’s office. The handguns were reported stolen from the State of Georgia.

The case stemmed from a narcotics investigation by the High Intensity Drug Trafficking Areas Task Force and the Brigantine Police Department.

Lane was also sentenced to five years in state prison in another case for pleading guilty to third-degree possession with the intent to distribute cocaine.

Assistant Prosecutor Deirdre Laws represented the state on both of the defendant’s matters.
