Years on the Job:  Three

Assistants:  Joe Down, Adam Coleman, Orlando Gomez, Pat Thompson & Anthony Vitrano

Returning Starters:  7 on offense and 8 on defense

Player’s Expected to Step Up:  John Kowalski, Robert Baumann, Aden Moskovitz, Zack Waschek, Chris Schnabel, Kevin Coulther, Shane Saulnier & Jeremiah Carfello

From the Coach

What This Team Does Better than Anybody:   We have senior leadership.

Biggest Surprise of the Off-season:  Speed and strength of junior cornerback/wide receiver Justin Simone.

Team Goal:  Win the conference and old teams to under 14 points per game.

Final Thought: A lot of starters return including two key players, John Kowalski and Robert Baumann, who were injured all of last season.

George Muha’s Take

George Muha’s Take is sponsored by Parisi Speed School of Morristown. Reach out to Parisi today to get bigger, faster and stronger because champions are made in the off-season.

I really like this year’s Vernon squad!  And it’s not just because junior John Kowalski is a legit play-maker that can score any time he touches the ball (although that is part of it).  But this team has skill and ability up-and-down the line-up and they’ve been working hard all off-season and you can tell.  Prediction:  I think this team is better than they even know.  So it might take a game or two for them to realize teams will struggle to hang with them (yes, I think they are that good).  I predict the Game of the Year and probably the deciding game for the conference will come to the final matchup against Sparta.
