From the Coach

What This Team Does Better than Anybody:  Plays with high energy and enthusiasm, while focusing on the little things.

Biggest Surprise of the Off-season:  Players preparing for the season on their own and the tremendous support and flexibility from their parents.  Tough times call for tough people. Jefferson kids are traditionally known to be tough.

Team Goal:  Family-Academics-Football-Loyalty-Commitment. Everything else will fall into place.

Mark my words, Coach Venturino will be a Sectional State Championship winning coach at some point in the very near future.  If you know anything about his career you would agree.  As a player he took his own Hopatcong Chief’s team to a sectional title in 2001.  Then went on to play quarterback t Moravian College where he was named team MVP in 2004.  His success continued after he put his coaching hat on by turning around a Hopatcong team that had very low participation numbers to a team that was loaded with college recruits.  He’s had only one losing season since taking over the Falcon’s job (3-7 in 2018) and he could have been easily been 7-3 that year but was literally suiting up JV players due to large scale injuries.  Going from coaching a Group 1 school to a Group 3 school and facing powerhouses like Mount Olive, Sparta and High Point is no easy task but Venturino’s track record speaks for itself.  2020 Prediction:  Getting to the postseason is going to be the trick this season as the shortened Second Season is going to mean less teams in the section will advance.  That means a two-loss season could translate to no postseason for the Falcons.  They’ll have to likely win two out of three against High Point, Sparta and Mount Olive.  If J-Town does find themselves in the playoffs, they’ll certainly be battle tested to make a run at glory.  And that would be a nice way for three-year starter Mike Gould to cap a stellar career!
