The Skinny & Prediction

Coach Smolyn is the winningest active coach in New Jersey right now.  Just let that sink in for a minute.  He’s also won seven state sectional titles and took his team to the finals fourteen times during his tenure.  Although he’s entering his 45th year has head coach it does not appear he is slowing down anytime soon.

If you are a Pat’s fan, hold on to your season tickets because you are about to go on a ride.  Senior three-year starters Rocco Bonavalonta and Nick Molinari want to make their last year special.  Bonavalonta is a 6, 250-pound lineman who is a wrecking machine on defense.  Molinari is a 6-1, 210-pound RB that has the speed to run around the end and the size to run over a linebacker.

There is a very talented group of junior players on this team that got a lot of varsity experience last season due to unforeseen injuries.  Although that didn’t make for a pleasant 2018 for Coach Smolyn’s, now he has a bunch of strong athletes with varsity experience.

This group is going to come out blazing and ready to take on the big boys on their schedule.  They are a playoff caliber team and have the horses, and obviously the coaching, to go the distance.  A state title will likely have to go through Kittatinny.  Lucky for them, they’ll get a look at them on October 12th.  Put on your seat belts Pat’s fans!

I know you didn’t like the tone of my comment but sometimes that’s the only way to get one’s attention. Thank you for being accurate in your recent previews. A state sectional title is exactly what it is. Just like the “Bowl” game winners can rightly be called North and South Group Champions or Kings of the North/South. Not true Group Champions but hopefully we are just a year or two away from seeing that. Keep up the good work.
