The Skinny & Prediction

  • This is coach Brian O’Connor’s 4th season leading the Marauders so this group of seniors have been through all four years of his program.  It’s been an eventful four years that included a trip to MetLife Stadium where M.O. was a play away from a state championship.
  • O’Connor’s is a spread the field, score on any play kind of guy so having athletes like Kramer, Kalas, Lockwood and McVicar plays well into his up-tempo type of game plan.  Kramer is a gamer who can turn a broken play into a big gain and Kalas is a total playmaker that defenses must game plan around on every down.
  • Senior lineman Essex Deberry is one of Morris-Sussex’s top linemen.  He’s a 6-4, 250-pound that has the strength, size and speed to play D1.  He’ll be joined by Nico Negron, Stan Puzio and Tim Marro, all of whom bring the beef and outsize every opposing line on their schedule.
  • Third year senior kicker Tommy Jordan is a stellar kicker that has kicked 45-yard plus field goals in games.  He’s been working hard in the off-season to increase his accuracy and makes the Marauders a legit scoring threat every time they cross the opposing 40-yard-line.
  • Mount Olive has not one easy game on their schedule.  Right out of the gate they’ll face a very athletic Chatham team and it doesn’t get easier from there.
  • Despite their brutal schedule, they should manage through it enough to get to the postseason.  Once their, they’ll likely have to face powerhouses like Phillipsburg, Old Tappan, Wayne Hills and Randolph.  However, the Marauder’s brutal schedule will have them battle tested for any opponent they’ll face in the Second Season.
