The Madison Dodgers battled the Jefferson Falcons Friday night, in the Falcons Nest. It was the home team who would prevail as the Falcons took home the 53-46 victory.

Senior guard Stefan Tisma led the charge for the Falcons dropping 20 points on the night. As for Madison, they were led by senior guard Brendan Quinn who added 22 points to the Dodgers total. In a close game down the stretch, the Falcons terrific ball movement and efficiency from three-point range ended up being enough to steal the game away from Madison. The win moved the Falcons up to 8-3 on the season as Madison falls to 8-5.

The game got underway and senior Paulie Monaco coming off an injury quickly made his presence felt surprising the crowd with an early three pointer. Although those were his only points on the night, it was a tone setter for the fiery falcons. However, the Dodgers wouldn’t be turned away on the first as Quinn tallied 14 in the quarter, holding Madison with a 17-12 lead after the first.

The second quarter is when the Falcons would better keep pace with Madison. Senior guard Joe Batelli added 8 points for the quarter highlighted by a full court pass from Tisma to Batelli for the layup. The Falcons would end the half still down, but by a slim margin of 28-25.

The third quarter was when the Falcons took their first lead of the, and they would never let it go. Only scoring 13 points in the quarter however it was enough, as Jefferson held the Dodgers to just 6 on the quarter, taking a 38-34 lead by the end of the third.

The Dodgers wouldn’t be steered away so easily, as they quickly regained the lead 40-38. However, after a Jefferson turnover, Monaco proves how much his presence was missed coming up with a huge hustle play to create a Madison turnover, and get the ball in the hands of red hot Stefan Tisma for a three-pointer and the lead. As the quarter continued, great ball movement by the Falcons controlled the game and continuously got them three pointers to put the seal on a 53-46 victory.

Senior guard Joe Batelli spoke about the teams ball movement after the game. “Stef got going and had a fantastic game, and the team just continued to find a way to get him the ball,” Batelli said. “Madison was ranked high up in the county, so it was a huge win for power points, and for Morris County Tournament,” said Batelli on the win.

Senior guard Stefan Tisma also had some words to add about the game. “It was a great team win, we played great together, moved the ball and stuck together and just felt real good tonight,” Tisma said on the win. “My teammates, they found me open and I was just lucky enough to make the shots tonight,” Tisma added about his big game from beyond the arc.

For the Dodgers, they look to regain momentum against Roxbury next Tuesday. As for the Falcons, they also have a game next Tuesday as they attempt to stay hot against Morris Hills.
