Week 3 had its share of individual and team performances. Boonton’s offensive line paved the way for a total of 519 rushing yards in the Bombers 47-7 defeat over Whippany Park. Par Hills QB JD Breslauer threw for 335-yards and went 19-31 passing in the Vikings 34-10 win over Hanover Park. And Kinnelon’s Reilly Nelson was caught everything in sight as the receiver caught 7 passes for 195-yards and two touchdowns in the Colts 35-6 win over Pascack Hills.

But the player Morris Sussex Sports felt deserved the Parisi Speed School Player of the Week for Week 3 the most was Morris Knolls senior Chris Marra in the Golden Eagle’s 16-13 win over undefeated Mount Olive. Marra led the charge for the Golden Eagles, rushing for over 100-yards and a touchdown, including many first down runs that wore the Marauder defense down. He also was in on almost every tackle, making several touchdown saving shoe-string tackles that set up teammate Ryan McEntee’s 42-yard game winning field goal in overtime.

Morris Sussex Sports caught up with Marra to talk about last week’s amazing win, what it’s like playing for legendary coach Bill Regan and what he sees himself doing in 10-years.

Morris Sussex Sports: How important was this win for you and your team?
Chris Marra: This was a huge win for us. Coming into the game 0-2 we knew we needed to dig deep if we wanted to turn the season around.

MSS: What was it like for you guys after that final whistle blew?
CM: As soon as we saw the ref signal that the field goal was good, everyone rushed onto the the field jumping around. It was nice to see that the hard work that we put in during the week pay off.

MSS: What would surprise people to know about this Golden Eagles team?
CM: Our starting team consists of almost all seniors who are always hanging out outside practice and school.

MSS: What is it about the Veer offense that Coach Regan likes so much?
CM: Coach loves so many things about the Veer offense . He loves making the other team guess where the ball is going to go, and make them wrong wherever they pick. Another thing about the Veer is he loves the fast past style which we play the offense .

MSS: Do you guys laugh in the film room when you see opposing defenders getting faked out?
CM: It’s more of quiet laugh so coach doesn’t hear. He is always very serious inside the film room.

MSS: Who on your team is finishing 1-2-3 in the forty?
CM: Me, Nick Baranello and Nick Parente

MSS: Who is finishing last?
CM: Sean Sedwick

MSS: Who can bench 225-pounds for the most reps?
CM: Ryan Mac

MSS: Who benches the least amount of weight?
CM: Jordan Williams

MSS: What’s the most inspiring thing Coach Regan ever said?
CM: “Enjoy what you guys do right now because these are the good old days.”

MSS: What’s the funniest thing he ever said?
CM: “You guys are going to run till I’m tired – and I’m not that tired. I got a good nights sleep.”

MSS: If your house was burning, what possession would you run back in for?
CM: Definitely my old jerseys and shoes.

MSS: If you weren’t playing football, what would you be doing?
CM: I would be playing lacrosse year round.

MSS: Who is your favorite athlete?
CM: Steph Curry

MSS: Finish this sentence – in 10 years I will be:
CM: A successful businessman who is still involved in sports by coaching.

MSS: If you were going to have a “last meal,” what would it be?
CM: Crispy Chicken Jr and and ice cream cone from Burger King.

MSS: Aside athletics, do you have any hidden talents?
CM: I’m a decent singer.

MSS: What’s your favorite movie?
CM: Saving Private Ryan

MSS: What can we expect from the Golden Eagles the rest of the way?
CM: You can expect us to have some big upsets with our upcoming games with our new confidence we gained from Mt. Olive.

MSS: Congrats Chris on such a great week and best of luck the rest of the way!
CM: Thank you so much for this award!
