Five Key Points

1. This team is one of those once-in-longtime types of team where everything is falling into place.  Last season, this sophomore and junior heavy team got stronger and stronger as time went on.  It all started by almost taking down a great Pequannock team, followed by finishing the season on a three-game win streak.
2. This team is a close group of friends.  You can see large groups of green t-shirts eating at local restaurants, working out at the gym and going to the movies together.  That kind of tight knit culture is a big ingredient that translates well to success in a team sport like football.
3. A great example of how these guys think team-first is last season when then sophomore QB Michael Burke came on the scene.  Then junior Nick Billand, just came off a tremendous sophomore campaign himself as starting quarterback.  Knowing Burke would be a huge asset to the team, Billand selflessly moved over to receiver and it worked out great for everyone.  Burke had a great season at the helm and Billand became a huge play-maker through the air.
4. Senior OL/LB Alex Khalaf has been playing varsity football since his freshman year.  This off-season he was the team leader in making sure everyone was accountable to each other in the weight room.  That has paid dividends as almost every single player has added a minimum of 8-10-pounds of muscle.
5. If there is a team you want to double-down on this season it is Montville.  It seems like every area has aligned for this to be their year.  If everything goes according to plan, their October 21st home game against Mount Olive could be the Game of the Year in Morris-Sussex.  That’s a long time away and a lot of things need to happen between now and then.  Either way, pre-order your Mustang tickets now because this team is going to be fun to watch.
