Head Coach: Bryan Gallagher
2017 Record: 4-6
Assistants:Pete Llaneza, Anthony Chierici, Ryan Connolly, Devon Engelberger, Mike London & Mike Mckeown

Players

Entering his second season as the starting QB, senior Trey Cabalar gives the Bombers a duel weapon with his feet and his arm (photo by Georgi Muha).

Franchise Player:  The player that is going to keep opposing coaches up at night is senior FB/MLB Joe Cannizzaro.  Offensively he has the agility to run around players, but he prefers to run north and south.  Defensively he takes away the entire middle of the field.
Hottest Selling Jersey:  The hottest selling jersey is that of Corey Dempster.  The junior halfback will turn 2nd and 5 off-tackle plays into 80-yard touchdowns.  By Week 3, everyone is going to be wearing #6 jerseys in the bleachers.
All Everything Watch:  A player that is sure to have the most hardware at the end of the season is senior lineman James Jacobson.  In a Wing-T offense that relies heavily on athletic linemen, Jacobson’s agility is going to be the reason Boonton’s skill guys are successful.
Under the Radar:  A few years back there was a legendary Boonton football player by the name of Gage Cabalar who was 110% heart.  Well he’s got a younger brother named Trey Cabalar who has that same fire in his eye.  Like his brother, Trey will be the QB for the second year and will be one of those names that you will hear week-in and week-out.
Lives in the Weight Room:  A guy who put in the work in the off-season is senior OL/DL Tristan Martinez.  When Martinez makes a tackle, you can hear the thud from the top of the stands.
Could Play in Any Era:  The player who could definitely play in the leather-helmet days is senior linemen Nick Ezzi.  You’ll never hear him smack talk either.  He’ll knock you off your cleats then put his hand out to pick you back up.  Then he’ll do it again.

Five Key Points

Boonton has so many different weapons that every week a new player can be the hero of the game (photo by Georgi Muha).

1. Boonton starts the season facing two very tough teams in Weequahic and Verona.  After playing those two teams, they’ll be battle tested for the rest of their schedule.
2. The Bombers have a lot of strong senior leadership this year, including a lot of players that have varsity experience.  Having that kind of maturity helps during the periods of the season when a team needs to dig deep.
3.  People think that because Boonton runs the Wing-T they are going to grind out those tough yards every play.  Coach Gallagher is as creative as they come and with skill guys like senior WR/CB Nick DeLuca, senior HB/OLB Sami Uthman, senior FB/LB Jason Earle and senior WR/OLB Nick DiLorenzo, expect the Bombers to be spreading the field out big time.
4.  Veterans like senior C/DL John Whritenour and senior OL/LB Bryan Quintanar, along with the other linemen mentioned above, round out an offensive front that will help get those two couple of yards every time.
5. You’ll always get a well prepared team out of Bryan Gallagher. Couple that with the fact that the Bombers are strong at every position, there is no reason the 2018 Bombers aren’t capable to win 7-games and more.
