Roger Koch

Roger played football and track for the Herd/Lakers where he broke the school records for rushing yards in a season (1310) and average yards per carry (11.0) in 1968. He also went on to be a County, North Jersey and State Pole Vault Champion and a County Champion in the 440 and 880 relay. Sadly he passed at the age of 44 of in 1995 during heart surgery.

Robert “Gus” Reynolds

Gus Reynolds was a 5-10, 165-pound defensive back and kick returner from 1972-1974 where the HERD went 25-1, were Colonial Hills Champs and Group 1, Section II State Sectional Champs three years in a row, and had the longest win streak in state history at the time (24). He was also track and field Colonial Hills Conference Champion in the 4 mile relay which also set a conference record in 1974. His athletic career continued after high school where he was captain of the New York Athletic Club – Winged Foot Rugby Team where he was an All Star on the All Metropolitan Team (1985-1989), part of the All Eastern Rugby Union (ERU -1988) and part of Team USA – Rugby 7’s (1988)
