That’s what Morris Hills quarterback Daymon Fleming tweeted Morris Knolls quarterback Nick Vittorio after a hard fought 27-20 Knolls overtime victory on Friday night.

After Hills’ thrilling 24-16 home-field victory over Knolls last season, this game had a lot to live up to—and Friday’s matchup did not disappoint. Fleming hit Hills’ TE Devin Caruso followed by a two-point conversion, giving Hills the early lead. But Knolls came back to score 14 unanswered points by halftime. Hills then mounted a comeback of their own pulling ahead 20-14 with under 5 minutes left in the fourth quarter.

And, here’s where it gets interesting. With under 2:00 remaining in regulation, Morris Knolls scored a rushing TD that they thought would give them some breathing room, but as ESPN’s Lee Corso would say, “Not so fast my friend!”

A missed PAT left the score knotted at 20 and sent the game into overtime. Knolls got the coin toss and elected to go on offense, and they delivered. A short rushing TD by Vittorio and PAT by Fullum gave Knolls the 7-point lead. Now it was Hills’ turn. After a Fleming pass to the back-left end zone fell incomplete, Fleming was sacked for a loss that made it 4th and very long. Another failed back-left end zone heave, and Knolls snatched the victory 27-20.

The battle between these rival sister-schools often doesn’t end on good terms. This year, however, the tone was different. Morris Hills principal Todd Toriello likes to say, “They are our sister school, not our enemies.”

Dayton Fleming went a long way toward showing that sportsmanship in his text.

Morris Hills hosts Montville next Friday at 7:00PM, while Morris Knolls hosts Delbarton at the same date and time.
