The town of Madison is the perfect sliver of Americana. You can jump on the Lackawanna Rail Line if you want, you can grab a slice of Rocco’s famous pizza or buy a cup of joe from Rupert at the Drip Coffee Shop. And if your new to town, you better get to speed quickly on the Dodgers football team otherwise you’ll find yourself shunned by the locals. So to help you out, I am going to fill you in on the 2014 version of this squad.
The 2014 Dodgers
Let me cut to the chase. This year’s Dodgers have a funny schedule. The first three games against Mt Lakes, Lenape Valley and Butler will be a huge challenge. If Madison can get through this part of their schedule with a 1-2 record, I really like their chances of making it to the postseason. They’ll most likely be able to get to playoffs with a 4-4 schedule (at the eight game cut-off), so that first part of their schedule will be key.
Their Talent
Madison will bring a mixture of seasoned veterans and young blood looking to fill empty shoes. One familiar face poised to have a sensational season is quarterback AJ Schmitz. Another Mr. Everything is senior RB/TE David Luttinger. Lineman Bobby Finelli and defensive back Mike Farrell also have the experience and leadership qualities to help develop the younger guys.
The Postseason
The good and bad of making it to the postseason is that a lot of regular-season opponents are also in Madison’s postseason section. The good: they would have faced them before. The bad: if they didn’t fare well against a team during regular season, they could be psychologically beaten before they even start the game.
