Pope John is the first and only team to play a game this week. Since all of the other teams will be playing their games starting the week of September 12th, we are calling this week “Week Zero” of the 2014 season. Enjoy our Week Zero predictions!
Pope John (0-0) @ DePaul (0-0)
Brian Kenney: While the character of Sonny was a hothead in “The Godfather” this Abramson kid is cool under pressure and is taking it one game at a time until he leads this Pope John team to a State Championship Title. Look for Nicky Esposito to add a couple of scores on the ground on top of Sonny’s two or three by air.
PICK: Pope John 41-20
L.A. Byrne: Pope John is coming out fired up in this game but they’re up against the Dubois/Walker offense led by new talent/transfer at QB that’s got a lot to prove. This offense is going to be tough to shut down.
PICK: DePaul 28-14
George Muha: I love how PJ is testing themselves early by putting a DePaul team that has just come off a state title winning season on their Week Zero calendar. DePaul’s Hasise Dubois and Jeremy Brown will tame Coach Carlson’s high flying passing attack. I see the Johnnies riding the Nick Esposito train for a 150+ yards on the ground to a victory in a close one.
PICK: Lions 22-21
