Five Key Points

1. Senior linemen Andres Moreira (6, 205) and Nick Fernandez (5-10, 210) are both well built, durable linemen that can stay strong throughout the season.  Having that kind of sustainable leadership is a huge asset for the Tigers.
2. Christian Acevedo (6, 200) has been the QB of Dover since his freshman year.  Now he’s a 6 foot, 200-pound senior who is probably the best athlete on the team.  He’s seen it all and knows how to read defenses probably better than any other Morris-Sussex QB.  He’ll be a fun player to watch and impossible for opposing defenses as he’ll be checking receivers off, extending broken plays, waiving receivers to go deep while he’s on the run, etc.
3. Opponents will get stung by junior Chris Vindel (5-8, 160) if they take him lightly in the return game.  He’s a natural sprinter so if he gets two steps and a little bit of daylight, he’s gone.
4. Dover has a rich history and a storied past.  In fact, Morris Sussex Sports hosted a podcast interview with Roy Moss who shared a game-by-game account of their 1992 state championship.  The current players are well aware of the great Dover teams of yesteryear and, along with Coach Gregorio, would like to carve out their own legacy.
5. The 2018 Tigers will give reason for those old timers to throw on their own varsity jackets and line the fence of the far endzone to support their orange & black (you will actually see them there).  Their schedule gods have mercy on them for the first time in a long time.  Couple that, with the fact that this is a close knit team that wants to win.  If they get some early momentum, the crowds will start filling Hamilton Field.  When that happens, winning starts to get contagious.
