The Coach

Name: Bobby Leach
Skinny: Coach Leach spent his playing days at Pope John then in college he played at Delaware Valley where he actually stayed on as coach afterward. Then he took over a struggling Sussex Tech program and instituted a fantastic culture and turned things all around. He actually was responsible for getting the Mustangs to their first playoff game in school history. Now at Wallkill Valley, he’s sure to continue his successful ways as he remains loyal to his Sussex County roots.
2016 Record: 5-5 *As coach of Sussex Tech

The Players

Franchise Player: Senior Dylan Harlos is Mr. Everything for Wallkill. He’s a freak athlete that literally can punt, kick, long snap, play QB, be the runningback, man the snack shake at halftime, etc. Dylan Harlos is Wallkill Valley.
Hottest Selling Jersey: Junior Jake Lonsky is a great baseball player which translates very well because he floats around the defensive backfield like he’s playing outfield. Teams that want to throw 25-yards or greater might as well throw it to Lonsky because it’s his either way.
All Unruly Watch: Junior Justin Rivera is another two-sport athlete (baseball) who is as competitive as they come. Rivera is in on ever tackle and is a playmaker on offense.
Under the Radar: Another skill guy that will get a lot of press is senior skill guy Peter Mastroianni. Mastroianni turned a lot of heads this preseason and is poised for a big year and can play just about every position on the field…and probably will.
Throwback: Senior lineman Brodie McDonald is a tough as nails guy in the trenches who is also the team leader. If there is a scrum on the field, he’s the first to get in the mix to protect his players. He’s the epitome of a football player…and even has the cool football name to go along with it.

Prediction

Coach Leach is very familiar with the foes on the Ranger’s schedule so he’ll be well prepared. Although navigating these opponents won’t be easy, they don’t need to be absolutely perfect which will take the pressure off this team. Each win carries a boat load a Power Points which will help Wallkill at the 8-game cutoff. In fact, if they can scrape away 4 wins by then, that could be enough to get them into the playoff dance. From there, they’ll only need two more wins to get a chance to play at MetLife Stadium in December.
