The Coach

Name: CJ Robinson
Skinny: Robinson took over the head job at Hackettstown in 2013. His high school playing days were in Pennsylvania where he went on to be a three year starter at Moravian College. Prior to taking the job as head coach, he was an assistant for several years. Robinson has a reputation around the league as always being well prepared and bringing a tough style of football.
2016 Record:  5-5

The Players

Franchise Player: Senior lineman Joe Andes (5’10”, 275) is the guy that puts fans in the seats. Now in his 4th year as a varsity star, he’s going to build onto the legacy he’s already leaving on H-Town football.
Hottest Selling Jersey: Senior FB Brandon Keuhner (5’9″, 175) is an athletic runner who can run over a linebacker or break the ankles of a D-back.
All Unruly Watch: Junior Matt Castro (5’8″, 180) is the second part of the Tiger’s 1-2 punch with Keuhner at fullback. Castro is a fireball who is impossible to bring down.
Under the Radar: Junior RB/DB Christian Maciak (5’10”, 180) is poised to have a standout season on both sides of the ball. He’s excellent in the secondary where he floats around like a centerfielder, picking off errant passes.
Throwback: Senior OL/LB Max Cash (5’8″, 185) is one of those toughneck guys who only plays in one gear. He’s so aggressive, Coach Robinson sits him during walk throughs so he doesn’t hurt anyone.

Prediction

I really like how things are shaping up for the Tigers. Their schedule may be laden with booby traps but I think this team will be able to skirt them enough to land in the second season. Once they get there it gets much trickier. They’ll have to face off against playoff regulars like Madison, Mountain Lakes and Lenape Valley. There are also some other teams in that section who look poised for a state championship run like Whippany Park and Caldwell. H-Town will only need two wins once they are in the playoffs to get a chance to be walking through the tunnels of MetLife. Right now, they have as good a chance as anyone.
